“this is the one”

“this is the one”

This afternoon, a quiet little “project” was happening in our living room.

Wearing her heart-print shirt and yellow skirt, my little one sat on the floor, carefully picking up each colorful ring and sliding it onto the pole. She’d hold one in her tiny hands, pause to think, choose a color, and with that “this is the one” look, place it perfectly in place.

The bright colors seemed to keep her engaged longer, and the simple action of grabbing and stacking naturally worked her little fingers and hand coordination. Before I knew it, time had flown by. She was happy, and my heart felt just as full watching her.
